JACK MORROW MEMORIAL MEETING AT NUTTS CORNER RACEWAY
Drivers and supporters gathered at on Sunday afternoon, 17th May, for a race meeting held in memory of the late Jack Morrow, the multiple champion who sadly passed away two years ago.
A full afternoon of racing featured BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, 2Ltr Saloon Stock Cars, 1400 Stock Cars, ORCi Stock Rods, ORCi Ministox, Junior Rods and GP2 Lightning Rods as competitors took to the oval in tribute to one of Northern Ireland’s best known oval racing figures.
The 2Ltr Saloon Stock Cars produced competitive racing throughout the afternoon with several familiar names featuring near the front of the field. Glenn Watt took victory in Heat One ahead of local driver Matthew Stirling and Ryan Wright before Stirling responded in Heat Two by finishing ahead of Adam White and Wright.
The Final saw Stirling complete a successful afternoon with victory after another closely fought contest. Ryan Wright finished second while Anthony McIvor completed the podium places in third.
The BriSCA F2 Stock Cars also produced close racing across the programme. Aidian McFerran opened proceedings with victory in Heat One ahead of Gavin Fegan, Ryan McCrory and Declan Og McFerran before Declan Og McFerran took the win in Heat Two.
With Jack Morrow having previously raced within the BriSCA F2 formula, the feature race was staged as the Jack Morrow Memorial Final. Declan Og McFerran secured victory in the Memorial race ahead of Aidian McFerran and Daniel Stewart, while Ryan McCrory finished fourth.
The ORCi Stock Rods saw Andrew Morrow and Shane McKinney share the heat victories before the Jack Morrow Memorial Final fell to Samuel Montgomery after a strong drive ahead of Ryan McKinney and Andrew Morrow.
The Junior Rods also competed for a Jack Morrow Memorial Final, reflecting Morrow’s earlier involvement within the formula during his racing career. Christopher Kernohan and Sam Preston shared the heat victories before Preston went on to secure the Memorial Final ahead of Noah Teggart and Kernohan.
In the 1400 Stock Cars, Micheal Logan claimed victory in Heat One ahead of Gary Freeburn and Curtis Greer before Greer responded with victory in Heat Two ahead of Joshua McKinistry and William Taggart.
Curtis McConkey then took victory in the Final following another competitive outing, with Curtis Greer and William Taggart completing the top three.
The ORCi Ministox once again showcased the emerging young talent within the sport, with Caolan Fegan enjoying a clean sweep after taking victory in both heats and the Final. Harry Martin and Cassey Lee consistently featured amongst the leading finishers across the afternoon.
The GP2 Lightning Rods rounded off another competitive afternoon of racing with Lewis Peoples taking victory in Heat One before Arron Fulton won Heat Two and later returned to secure victory in the Final ahead of Lewis Peoples and Richard Nicholl.
The meeting once again reflected the respect still held for Jack Morrow throughout the sport, with another strong turnout of drivers and supporters gathering for an afternoon of racing in his memory.
