McFaul crowned Irish Open Champion

Garvagh’s William McFaul Jnr was the toast of the Micro Banger scene, where he romped clear of the competition and dodged all the drama to claim the honours in the 2019 Irish Open Champion, next home was Stephen Bolton the former Unlimited National Banger World Champion with Matthew McKinstry. The ever fast Leonard Dunn was on hand to take the spoils in the all-comers event before McFaul tasted success in the Destruction Derby.

Moffett Shield victory for McCready

The Brisca F2 Stock Cars were in fine form as they contested their annual Moffett Shield. Cullybackey’s Curtis Greer got his afternoon off to a fine start with a run-away win in the opening heat while. Heat two was still in its infancy when the superstar pairing of Craig McConnell and Gavin Fegan clashed heavily which side-lined both from the race. Local man Stephen McCready kept himself out of the trouble spots to take the flag. McCready kept up his heat two momentum to capture the Moffett Shield also, while McCready took the honours McConnell was edging ever closer as the laps ticked away, however he was forced to settle for second. Greer claimed the final step on the podium.

King Clive

The afternoon carried extra significance for the Group Two Lighting Rods, who were out in force as they went in search of the King of Nutts Corner title. Randalstown man George Esler was unstoppable in both the heat events; however he had no offer to the rapid Clive Wilson in the feature final. Wilson completed the distance to take the title, Esler was the gallant runner up with David Nesbitt third.

Robert Mawhinney was a double heat winner in the 2L Saloon Stock Cars before Anthony McIvor got his hands on the final silverware. Mawhinney rounded out his afternoon with a runner up finish in the final ahead of Winston Weir.

A decent showing of 13oo Stock Cars were in action where Nicky Lowry and Ryan Stewart were the heat winners. Robbie Wright was the man to beat in the final however when he stormed into the distance to take a commanding victory.
Also on the busy race card was the Junior Rods. Jamie and Christopher Cardwell had heat wins apiece, before Jack Morrow cranked up his pace, taking victory in the meeting final. Joining Morrow on the final podium was Cole McFall and Ty Richards.

The final event on the programme was the eagerly anticipated Caravan Destruction Derby. The large gathering of onlookers were treated to something of a crash fest spectacular as the caravan’s fell to pieces in front of their eyes.

The next race event takes place on Friday 23rd August 7.30pm featuring the BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, 1300 Stock Cars, Stock Rods, Junior Rods and Micro F2 Stock Cars.
